Description:
Accident Investigation. Large oil company vs. truck manufacturer. A truck was involved in a fatal accident. The oil company (owner-of truck) claimed that failed suspension caused loss of control by the driver, who-crossed median and hit a van head on, killing the driver, a 33 year old father of two children. 7600 gallons of gasoline from the truck ignited and burned the driver of the van beyond recognition.

Investigation:
Canvass of witnesses led to location of previously unidentified eyewitness, who had followed the truck for 40 miles. Witness stated that truck had repeatedly caromed off snow banks on both sides of road, as if drunk. A sheered bolt produced by the oil company as evidence of mechanical failure, was proven by a spectrogram to have come from a vehicle other than the truck.
